There are many parks to visit in Barcelona. So many that even if you live here you don't have time to visit them. But thought of writing them down in different categories.
The famous parks
(To find! I start from Barcelona centum where most hotels are occupied, plaza catalonya)
Park Guell:
If you are interested in Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol's work, you should go here. It is located in the north of Barcelona.
Some parts of the park have admission, but you can walk around and see a lot completely free.
Get here: from plaza catalonya. Metro L3 (green line) towards Trinitat Nova. Get off 5 stations later in Vallcarca. It takes about 12 minutes to walk to the park.
Bus 24: from rambla of catalonya-Ctrlla del camel. It takes 2 minutes to walk to the park, it will be visible from the bus stop.
Park Montjuic:
Park Montjuric is the part of Montujic that overlooks the sea, a nice park with roses, cacti and part of the cable car goes from there.
This part is one of the most popular part of Montjuic. Montjuic is a mountain, turned into many different parks. If you want to explore the whole of Montjuic, then wear good shoes, food and drink and plenty of time, several hours. But I will have a separate information about most parks here.
Getting here: The walk takes about 30 minutes from plaza catalonia so I recommend taking the city tour (jump off and hop on the bus)
Metro: Line 2 (purple) or Line 3 (green) and get off at Parel-lel. From there it takes about 7 minutes to walk, but be prepared that it is uphill.
Resident of Tibida
Tibidabo, this is a mountain peak very worth going to. With a church perched on top. 512 m above sea level and the highest point in Barcelona. There are amusement attractions there if you are traveling with children, it is a perfect excursion.
Get here : from plaza catalonya TRAIN called S2!: take the train towards Sabadell park del nord get off at Pue del Funicial go to plaza de Vallvidera ! You take the train all the way there.
Search Tibiabo and see which alternative tourist buses will take you there.
Water lily parks
Turo Park:
A park to stroll alone or with friends in. Where you can find some wildlife such as frogs, wild rabbits, birds and water lilies. It is located near slightly more exclusive shops.
There is a large playground inside the park and a cafe! But there are plenty of cafes around. One of them is called Fiket - a Swedish-inspired café with very nice staff and very good coffee for those who like strong coffee and the best cinnamon buns. But it's clear you didn't come here for the cinnamon buns ;)
Get here: from Plaza Catalonya bus L6 towards Sarria take 4 stops. Get off at Muntaner. Walk about 5 min
Always have google maps handy.
Parc del Laberint d, Horta:
I've never been here but if you look at pictures of this park it looks wonderful. A bit like a castle garden. The hedges are shaped in different shapes and it is as the name mentions the labyrinth.
Admission: yes, about 2.23 euros
Getting here: Easiest is to take Metro L3 (green line)
go towards Tritat Nova, get off after 9 stations at Mundet, go towards Passagie Vall d; Horta.
6 min walk you will see the parade from the Metro exit.
Teleferic de Montjuric:
Next to the famous cable car in Montjuric there is a very nice park with small waterfalls between the ponds. And beautiful water lilies. Great picnic park or sit and relax with a book .park. There is no cafe in the middle of the park, but you can buy drinks and something light a little further away.
Search Teleferic de Montjuric to easily find the best route.
There are lots of parks, but it is impossible to write them all down. Hope you like the idea of giving exposure to different things you can do in Barcelona. Feel free to comment below, thanks!
